St. Philip’s Seminary Graduation 2019
On May 20, 2019, seven seminarians graduated from various programs offered by St Philip’s Seminary: two in philosophy, two in fundamental theology, and three in theology proper. Professors, family and friends, and fellow students gathered to mark this important step in the formation of these seminarians for the priesthood. There was a beautiful sung English Mass followed by a reception and awards ceremony. Awards were given for the best overall marks to Jesus of Redemptoris Mater, for the best marks in the comprehensive examinations to Victor Valdez of the Archdiocese of Toronto, and for the most valuable contribution to community life to Steven Polo of the Chaldeans.
At the reception, the rector of the seminary Fr Jonathan Robinson received a toast in honour of his 90th birthday, which was a few days afterwards.
For over 30 years, St Philip’s Seminary has provided this significant service to the Church. To date, the seminary has graduated over 250 seminarians from 14 countries, over 200 of whom have since been ordained priests. The Fathers of the Toronto Oratory are proud to play such an important role in the formation of future priests, and because of the prayerful support and generosity of its benefactors this work will continue for many years to come.
